Nashville, TN (January 7, 2020) -- US Community Credit Union (USCCU) announced today it has received approval for a community charter expansion by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA). The expanded community charter will allow the Credit Union to grow its services beyond its most recent five county charter to include nine additional counties throughout Middle Tennessee.
With this approval, USCCU will expand its membership to now serve “persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in and business and other legal entities located in Davidson, Rutherford, Wilson, Sumner, Williamson, Cannon, Cheatham, Dickson, Hickman, Macon, Maury, Robertson, Smith or Trousdale Counties. Members of the immediate family or household members may also be members of the credit union.”
In 2016, former Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam challenged credit unions to find a way to better serve the rural counties of TN. These rural counties are lacking some of the most basic necessities, including access to a reliable financial institution.
Knowing this, USCCU made it a strategic goal to bring USCCU services to as many counties as possible throughout the state of Tennessee. Credit Unions are founded on the concept of people helping people – and USCCU is dedicated to providing Tennesseans with basic financial services, helping them reach their financial goals, and giving them access to budget counseling and loan options. Where they live should not be a limiting factor.
“We are very excited about this expansion,” US Community Credit Union President/CEO Paul Johnson said. “We are now able to not only bring our products and services to these areas, but also our core values and exceptional service to the residents of these counties.”
USCCU will soon be hosting pop-up branches throughout the nine new counties to introduce the Credit Union to county residents.
