Protect Your Personal Information from Spoofed Phone Call Scams

At US Community Credit Union, your security is our top priority. We remind you to stay vigilant against scams targeting financial institutions, particularly those involving fraudulent phone calls.

Recently, there have been reports of scammers spoofing phone numbers associated with financial institutions throughout Middle Tennessee. Those targeted are receiving phone calls from individuals claiming to be US Community Credit Union employees. During these phone calls, the fraudsters have stated the members account has been compromised, requiring a new debit card to be mailed immediately. Members are then asked to verify sensitive information, such as account, social security, or pin numbers. 

US Community Credit Union will never call and ask for your account, social security, or PIN number. 

Here are a few tips to help you protect yourself from phone scams:

  • Be Skeptical of Unsolicited Calls: If you receive a call out of the blue requesting sensitive information, be cautious. Legitimate financial institutions typically do not initiate these types of requests over the phone.

  • Verify Caller Identity: If you're unsure about a callers authenticity, hang up and contact the credit union directly using a trusted phone number. This ensures you're speaking with a legitimate member of our team.

  • Protect Your Personal Information: Never share your account number, PIN, or other sensitive details over the phone unless you initiated the call and are certain of the recipients identity.

  • Report Suspicious Activity: If you encounter any suspicious calls or believe you've been targeted by a scam, report it immediately to US Community Credit Union or relevant authorities.
